Acer Unveils the Predator Atlas 7 Handheld Gaming PC Powered by Intel Arc G3

Acer has expanded its handheld gaming PC line-up with the Predator Atlas 7. The device moves the hardware platform of the 8-inch Predator Atlas 8 into a more compact 7-inch body and runs on Intel Arc G3 processors. That makes it one of the few handheld gaming PCs not built around AMD silicon, which has effectively defined the category since the arrival of the Steam Deck.

Intel Arc G3 instead of the usual AMD platform

The top configuration uses the Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor with integrated Intel Arc B390 graphics on the Xe3 architecture, while the entry version relies on the Intel Arc G3 with Arc B370 graphics. The Xe core count reaches twelve, and LPDDR5x memory goes up to 24 GB at an effective 7467 MT/s. Storage of up to 1 TB sits in a single M.2 slot with a PCIe Gen4 interface.

Alongside the new graphics, Acer highlights support for XeSS 3 upscaling with frame generation. According to the company, the technology keeps frame rates high in demanding scenes where native rendering can no longer keep up. How well that holds up in practice is still an open question: there are no independent tests of the Arc G3 platform in a handheld yet, and real numbers will depend on power limits, drivers and in-game settings.

Cooling and battery life

The cooling system uses two fans. One is the metal Predator AeroBlade with 89 blades measuring 0.1 mm in thickness, the other is plastic. Acer says its internal testing showed roughly 10% more airflow from the metal fan compared with a plastic one, while the angled Vortex Flow channels move hot air out of the chassis during sustained loads.

Battery capacity goes up to 80 Wh, and the chosen pack determines how heavy the device is. With the 60 Wh battery the weight stays under 700 g, and with the larger one it remains under 750 g. The 8-inch Atlas 8 weighs 770 g and 810 g in the same configurations, so the new model is noticeably lighter. The bundled power adapter is rated at 65 W.

Controls and ergonomics

The Atlas 7 chassis has contoured side grips, an enlarged palm rest area, recessed keys and an anti-slip texture. The power button doubles as a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello sign-in.

Selected configurations come with TMR joysticks based on tunnelling magnetoresistance. They operate with zero dead zones and resist drift, while entry models ship with carbon film joysticks.

Hall-effect analog triggers read pressure through a magnetic sensor, delivering an even and predictable response in genres that rely on gradual pressure control.

Two macro buttons on the back let players assign frequent actions and trigger them without lifting their thumbs off the sticks.

Display and audio

The 7-inch Full HD panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and variable refresh rate. Peak brightness is rated at 500 nits and sRGB coverage at 100%. The surface is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with a DXC treatment that reduces reflected light, and a tempered-glass screen protector is included. The screen recognises up to ten simultaneous touch points.

Audio comes from two 2 W speakers with DTS Virtual:X Ultra and Hi-Res Audio support. Two microphones work together with Acer PurifiedVoice, which applies AI to suppress background noise during voice chat.

Ports and connectivity

The Atlas 7 has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, so a dock, an external display and peripherals can all be connected at once. Storage can be expanded with a microSD card over the faster UHS-II interface, and there is a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. Wireless connectivity is handled by an Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7 module and Bluetooth 5.4. A dedicated hardware button opens the PredatorSense app with system monitoring, performance modes and lighting settings.
