Dyson Unveils CameraJet, a Toothbrush With a Built-In Camera and Precision Water Jet

Dyson has unveiled Dyson CameraJet in Paris — an electric toothbrush with a built-in camera that tracks the gaps between teeth in real time and directs a targeted jet of fluid to floss those spots while brushing. The device combines a camera, an AI-based algorithm and precision fluid dynamics, taking over the role that flossing normally plays as a separate step in an oral care routine.

A camera that finds the gaps between teeth

At the core of CameraJet is a 100k-pixel macro lens camera working alongside Gap Optical Targeting. The camera scans the mouth at 28 frames per second, while a machine learning algorithm tracks and predicts the position of gaps between teeth in real time. Once a gap is detected, the device fires a conical jet of mouthrinse into it within 100 milliseconds.

Gap Optical Targeting lets the toothbrush do more than clean teeth — it precision-flosses the gaps between them while you brush, without a separate flossing step.

A conical jet instead of a needle-type one

Dyson developed the shape of its jet in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry at the National University of Singapore, which helped create a proprietary proxy plaque for testing. According to the company, traditional needle-type water jets pierce through plaque but don't always remove it completely because of its stickiness. CameraJet's conical jet, by contrast, sweeps a wider area and runs at lower pressure, which Dyson says removes more plaque while being gentler on gums and enamel.

"By combining a camera, machine learning, precision fluid dynamics, advanced brushing technologies, connectivity and WiFi, Dyson CameraJet introduces an entirely new way to keep your mouth healthy," said James Dyson, Founder and Chief Engineer of Dyson.

Brush head, drive system and fluid tank

The CameraJet brush head uses a dual-bristle design: slightly firmer inner bristles lift surface stains, while softer outer bristles clean gently along the gumline. Each brush head carries an RFID tag that tracks how many cleans it has completed and alerts the user when a replacement is due, and a more sensitive version of the head is also available. The brush moves using Variable Sonic Oscillation, which varies the angle of bristle movement so bristles don't stall against the tooth surface — something Dyson engineers say can happen with conventional sonic toothbrushes.

According to Dyson's laboratory testing, variable sonic oscillation removes up to 69% more plaque in hard-to-reach areas compared with market-leading premium electric toothbrushes.

Mouthrinse is held in a 12.5ml Anti-Gravity Tank with a diaphragm pump and pressure chamber that adapt to the angle of the brush. Unlike a conventional "straw in a cup" design, this tank doesn't lose performance when the device is held horizontally — the position most often used to clean the back teeth.

The Anti-Gravity Tank keeps delivering fluid regardless of how the toothbrush is oriented, so the jet doesn't fire blanks even when cleaning the back of the mouth.

CameraJet charges and refills on its dedicated dock: a single button press refills the tank with fluid in three seconds. The dock also stores the toothbrush upright between cleans, and a travel case is included as part of the set.

The MyDyson app and connectivity

CameraJet connects over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Its built-in camera works as an endoscope: through the MyDyson app, users can watch a live view of their mouth — the kind of view normally reserved for a dentist. The camera is only active during live viewing or auto-jetting, and no images are recorded or stored on the device or in the cloud.

The MyDyson app also provides coverage mapping, brushing and flossing technique tips, and personalised feedback that helps users see which areas they tend to miss.

Users can switch between auto-detect and manual jetting modes and adjust brushing intensity to their own comfort level.

The Dyson Dental System, including the CameraJet toothbrush, launches on 1 September 2026 on dyson.com, in Dyson Demo Stores and at selected retailers.
