Fairphone Unveils Fairphone 6+ With Upgraded Chipset, Debuts Officially in the US
Fairphone has introduced the Fairphone 6+, an upgraded version of last year's Fairphone 6 with a faster chipset and more RAM. It's the first Fairphone device to become officially available in the United States, marking a notable step for the Dutch manufacturer best known for its focus on repairability and long-term software support.
What's different from the Fairphone 6
The Fairphone 6+ swaps in a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset in place of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 found in the standard model, and doubles down on memory with 12GB of RAM instead of 8GB. Every other core spec, including the display, cameras and battery, carries over unchanged from the Fairphone 6. The new model also introduces an exclusive Cobalt Blue color option, joining the existing Forest Green and Horizon Black.
Display and cameras
The phone uses a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1116x2484 resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Photos come from a 50-megapixel main camera built around Sony's LYTIA LYT-700C sensor with optical image stabilization, paired with a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens. The front-facing camera offers 32 megapixels.
The Fairphone 6+ is now available in the US for $649 through Fairphone's online store and Amazon — the brand's first official US launch. In Europe, it costs €649 (~$707).
Repairability remains the main selling point
Like its predecessor, the Fairphone 6+ is built around the idea of easy self-repair and extended use without losing support.
12 replaceable parts — the USB-C port, battery, display and back cover can all be swapped in under five minutes, while the microphones, side buttons and fingerprint sensor are serviceable at repair centers.
Five-year warranty and support until 2033 — Fairphone promises six major Android updates and continued spare-parts availability through 2033.
