HONOR Launches Magic9 Super Power With 11,000mAh Battery and Cooling Fan

HONOR has unveiled the HONOR Magic9 Super Power, a version of the standard Magic9 built around an 11,000mAh battery and a built-in active cooling fan. It is the largest battery ever fitted to a Magic-series phone, ahead of both the regular Magic9 and the flagship Magic9 Pro Max, yet the body stays just 8.1mm thick. The model targets buyers who value battery life and sustained performance under load more than the most advanced camera in the lineup.

11,000mAh battery and charging

The battery has a typical capacity of 11,000mAh and a rated capacity of 10,690mAh. For comparison, the standard Magic9 carries an 8,000mAh cell and the Magic9 Pro Max an 8,800mAh one. The battery belongs to HONOR's Qinghai Lake family, and the phone weighs around 227g despite its capacity.

Charging speeds match the base model at 80W wired and 50W wireless. The phone can also charge other devices, either over a cable at up to 27W or wirelessly. The Magic9 Pro Max charges faster, at 100W wired and 80W wireless. HONOR has not yet published any battery life tests, so real-world endurance will only become clear once reviews arrive.

Performance and cooling

The phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm's flagship chip from last year that also powered the Magic8. Two prime cores run at up to 4.6GHz and six more at up to 3.62GHz, with an Adreno 840 GPU handling graphics. The chip is paired with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

What sets it apart from the rest of the lineup is active cooling. A 30,000rpm fan works alongside a large vapor chamber and can dissipate up to 12W of heat. According to HONOR, the ducted design improves heat dissipation by 30%.

The system is aimed mainly at gaming and other sustained workloads, where phones typically lower clock speeds as they heat up. The model also includes HONOR's own HONOR C3 chip for improved cellular reception.

Display and body

The Magic9 Super Power features a flat 6.81-inch OLED display with a 1280 × 2788 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel shows 1.07 billion colors with DCI-P3 coverage, reaching 2,000 nits across the whole screen and up to 10,000 nits in localized areas. 3840Hz PWM dimming is designed to reduce eye strain, and the bezels measure 1.03mm.

The body carries three protection ratings at once: IP68, IP69 and IP69K. The last one covers resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets.

Cameras

Unlike the standard Magic9 with its two 200MP cameras, only the main camera here uses a 200MP sensor. It is a 1/1.55-inch Samsung S5KHP5 with an f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 50MP Sony LYTIA 500 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS, plus a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus that doubles as a macro lens.

The front camera uses a 50MP sensor with a 90° field of view. The main camera records 4K video at up to 120fps, while the front camera tops out at 60fps.

Software

The phone runs MagicOS 11 based on Android 17. The system includes the YOYO AI agent, an AI call assistant, speech and on-screen translation, and automatic subtitles. A dedicated AI key on the frame provides quick access to these features.

Deepfake detection lets the system recognize AI-generated face and voice swaps.

HONOR introduced the Magic9 Super Power in Beijing on September 28, with sales in China starting immediately after the event. The 12GB/256GB model costs CNY 4,499 (~$630), the 12GB/512GB model CNY 4,999 (~$700), and the 16GB/512GB model CNY 5,499 (~$775).
