Garmin Unveils fenix 9 and fenix 9 Pro With a Titanium Case and Up to 57 Days of Battery Life
Garmin has refreshed its flagship multisport lineup with the fenix 9 and fenix 9 Pro. The higher-tier model is the first fenix ever built around a titanium case, and it carries the largest AMOLED display the series has used so far, while solar-charging versions are rated for weeks of use between charges. Both watches also gain a faster mapping engine, twice as much onboard storage and a reworked way of measuring endurance.
Case and display
The standard fenix 9 keeps a familiar construction: a fiber-reinforced polymer case with a titanium rear cover and a scratch-resistant sapphire lens. Its AMOLED panel is twice as bright as the one on the fenix 8, and the leakproof buttons help the watch stay dive-rated to 40 meters.
The fenix 9 Pro is the first model in the family with a titanium case. Garmin used nano-molding technology that bonds metal and plastic at the molecular level, which the company says cut the overall thickness of the watch without giving up durability. Peak brightness on the Pro display reaches 3,000 nits, and the 51mm version introduces the first 1.5-inch AMOLED screen in the range, 15% larger than on the fenix 8 within the same case size. Both models come in three sizes: 43mm, 47mm and 51mm.
Navigation and storage
Mapping is where the hardware upgrade shows most clearly. There is 50% more RAM than on the fenix 8, and the updated engine pans the map up to 30% faster. A new perspective view adds detail near and far, making it easier to read what the next stretch of the route looks like. The 64 GB of storage holds twice as many downloaded maps as the previous generation, or roughly 7,000 songs.
New training features
The headline software additions of this generation are a way to tie scattered workouts into a single story and a more detailed read on how much energy an athlete has left during an activity.
The free Garmin Epic feature groups activities recorded over several days, weeks or months into one story in Garmin Connect, showing health and performance data for that period and letting users add photos and share the whole thing with family and friends.
Expanded endurance tracking with stamina zones and a stamina curve shows how endurance shifts over time based on fitness gains and training history, helping athletes pace themselves more accurately during an activity.
The rucking mode lets users change pack weight mid-activity with up to 100 kg supported, follow GORUCK workouts on the watch and set targets such as calories burned.
Indoor rowing has been reworked as well. On a rowing machine equipped with a power meter, the watch calculates VO2 Max and a power curve, so gym sessions can be analyzed in as much depth as runs or rides.

Staying connected without a phone
Select fenix 9 Pro versions ship with inReach satellite and LTE connectivity, which supports calls, messages and emergency requests through the 24/7 staffed Garmin Response coordination center without a phone in the pack. For the first time, that configuration is offered across all three Pro sizes.
With an active inReach plan, LiveTrack alerts reach contacts through the Garmin Messenger app over LTE, the Garmin Locate feature shows them where the wearer is, and weather forecasts for a specific spot now arrive over satellite as well as LTE. For night use, the built-in LED flashlight adds a green mode that is less disruptive to night vision.
The watches are on sale now, with the fenix 9 starting at $999.99 and the fenix 9 Pro at $1,099.99.
