Motorola Unveils moto watch ultra With LTE and Polar Analytics

Motorola has introduced the moto watch ultra, the most advanced smartwatch in its line-up and the first model from the brand to support LTE. The device runs on Wear OS by Google, and its key difference from earlier models lies in a deeper partnership with Polar: the Finnish sports electronics developer supplied its own algorithms for sleep, recovery and training analysis. As a result, the watch positions itself less as a smartphone accessory and more as a standalone health tracking tool.

Wellness analytics built on Polar algorithms

This is the second time Motorola has drawn on Polar technology for its wearables, but the feature set is noticeably broader now. The watch helps monitor stress levels, assess the quality of a night's rest, distribute training load more efficiently and count burned calories based on heart rate, wrist movement, weight and the user's age.

Serene is a breathing exercise mode with real-time biofeedback. The device records how long the user stayed in each of the three serenity zones and whether they managed to match the optimal breathing rhythm.

Nightly Recharge combines sleep quality scoring with a measurement of autonomic nervous system recovery, showing how well the body coped with the previous day's load.

Running Coach guides running and walking workouts straight from the wrist and suggests pacing for beginners or anyone who needs extra encouragement.

The remaining Polar tools cover everyday activity. Sleep Plus Stages breaks the night down into light, deep and REM phases to produce a personal sleep score, Activity Goal sets a daily movement target based on the user's profile and chosen activity level, and Activity Score shows how close they are to reaching it. The watch also sorts activity by intensity through Active Intensity Zones, prompts a break after long periods of inactivity, and uses Energy Sources to explain which fuels (fat, carbohydrates or protein) the body relied on during a workout.

A watch that works without a phone

An LTE module with eSIM support appears in the moto watch line for the first time. That means calls, text messages and notifications can be handled with the phone left at home. A dual-band GPS receiver handles navigation, while contactless Google Pay payments work with a card added to Google Wallet.

Software duties fall to Wear OS by Google with access to the Google Play store, so apps such as Google Maps, Google Messages, YouTube Music or Gemini can be installed on the watch. Processing is handled by the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 platform.

Motorola Qira debuts in a wearable for the first time: the assistant responds to a raised wrist or the phrase "Hey Qira" and can pull up saved information stored across compatible Motorola and Lenovo devices.

Display, body and battery life

The watch has a 1.5-inch OLED screen with peak brightness of up to 2,700 nits and an always-on mode, keeping information readable even in bright sunlight. The 46mm case is made of stainless steel, and the display is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The lugs take standard 22mm straps, including third-party ones.

IP68 and 5ATM ratings mean the watch can stay on during a swim in the pool or a bike ride in the rain. Motorola claims up to two days of active use on a single charge with the always-on display turned off, while 15 minutes on the charger restores roughly a day of use, although that requires an adapter of at least 30W.
