Motorola moto pad 70 arrives: 6.29mm 5G tablet with moto pen included
Motorola has launched the moto pad 70 in India, the entry model of its pad 70 family and a device the company positions as the thinnest and lightest 5G tablet in its segment. It pairs a 12.1-inch 2.5K screen with the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chip, a 10,200mAh battery and a moto pen bundled in the box.
The announcement completes the pad 70 range. The higher-end moto pad 70 Pro with Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 debuted in June, the entertainment-focused moto pad 70 Groove with its nine-unit JBL speaker system went on sale in India on August 7, and the base model concentrates on portability, 5G and stylus input.
Metal body and 12.1-inch screen
The Wi-Fi version measures 6.29mm thick, while the 5G variant is 6.49mm. Both weigh 530g and use an all-metal chassis with rounded edges. The tablet is offered in a single PANTONE Sea Angel finish.
The 12.1-inch LCD panel has a 2560×1600 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Typical brightness is quoted at 600 nits, rising to 800 nits in High Brightness Mode. The screen covers 96% of the DCI-P3 colour space and carries TÜV Rheinland certification for reduced blue light. Audio comes from four speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos.
Performance and battery life
The tablet runs on the octa-core Dimensity 6400 built on a 6nm process, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage that can be expanded by up to 2TB via microSD.
Battery capacity is 10,200mAh. Motorola claims up to 13 hours of YouTube playback, and the bundled 68W TurboPower charger adds around two hours of use in 10 minutes. The tablet ships with Android 16, with an upgrade to Android 17 and three years of security patches promised.
Stylus, keyboard and AI features
The moto pen is included in the box and supports 4,096 pressure levels, tilt detection and palm rejection. A magnetic moto folio keyboard case with a stylus holder is sold separately. Motorola's software set also includes AI Notes for organising handwritten notes and turning them into concise summaries, alongside Google services such as Gemini.
AI Writing Tools suggests wording as you type and rewrites passages for greater clarity.
Circle to Search with Google looks up or translates anything visible on screen without switching between apps.
Smart Connect links compatible phones, tablets and PCs, allowing files to move between devices and tasks to continue on another screen.
The moto pad 70 goes on sale on August 15 through Flipkart, Motorola's website and retail stores across India. The 8/256GB version is priced at INR 33,999 (~$390), dropping to an effective INR 29,999 (~$345) with a bank discount of up to INR 4,000.
