Motorola Unveils Moto Pad 70 Groove Tablet With JBL Sound System
Motorola has unveiled the Moto Pad 70 Groove, a tablet built around sound and multimedia rather than raw power. It's the second Pad 70-series tablet the company has introduced in the past month, following the more performance-focused Moto Pad 70 Pro. The Groove is positioned as an entertainment-first device for video and music.
Display and build
The Moto Pad 70 Groove features a 12.1-inch LCD panel with a 2,560×1,600 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 800 nits of peak brightness, and 98% DCI-P3 color coverage. The screen supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. The tablet has a metal body measuring 6.8mm thick (22.7mm including the speaker bump) and weighs 775g. It's available in a single color, Pantone Blue Surf.
Sound takes center stage
The tablet's standout feature is its 9-unit JBL Pro Speaker System on the back, made up of four tweeters, three woofers, and two passive radiators. It supports Dolby Atmos with preset Dynamic, Movie, and Music modes, plus a dedicated Bluetooth Speaker Mode that lets users stream audio from a phone and use the tablet as a standalone Bluetooth speaker.
A kickstand built for four viewing modes
The back also houses a 360-degree metal kickstand that lets the tablet stand upright, lie flat, tilt, or hang. This enables four distinct viewing modes: Lean Mode, Theatre Mode, Stand Mode, and Hanging Mode.
Performance and battery life
The Moto Pad 70 Groove runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, expandable by up to 2TB via microSD. It ships with Android 16, with Motorola guaranteeing upgrades up to Android 18 and four years of security updates. The tablet lacks LTE support, so internet access is limited to Wi-Fi.
Its 10,200 mAh battery is rated for up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming. The tablet ships with a 68W power adapter, though it only supports charging speeds of up to 45W.
Other features include dual microphones, an IP52 rating, and a USB-C port.
The Motorola Moto Pad 70 Groove goes on sale in India on August 7, priced at INR 36,999 (~$388), through Motorola's Indian website, Flipkart, and retail stores nationwide.
