Huawei Unveils HUAWEI WATCH 6 With Sapphire Glass and X-TAP Sensor

Huawei has introduced its new HUAWEI WATCH 6 smartwatch, featuring spherical sapphire glass, an upgraded X-TAP sensor, and an expanded set of health-monitoring tools. The device comes in two sizes and continues the HUAWEI WATCH lineup with a focus on a lighter body and more accurate readings.

Compact Build and a Bright Display

HUAWEI WATCH 6 is available in two versions — 42 mm and 46 mm. The smaller model weighs just 38 g, making it Huawei's lightest watch to date, with a 10.2 mm aluminum alloy case. The larger 46 mm version uses a stainless steel case and weighs 60 g. Both variants are protected by spherical sapphire glass, which improves scratch resistance and keeps the display legible even in direct sunlight.

The 42 mm model has a 1.38-inch display, while the 46 mm version measures 1.5 inches; both use LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panels with a 466 × 466-pixel resolution. According to Huawei, peak brightness reaches 3500 nits, keeping on-screen data easy to read even during the day.

X-TAP Sensor and Health Glance

A key feature of the HUAWEI WATCH 6 is the upgraded X-TAP sensor, which combines a 12-channel optical heart rate sensor with a responsive pressure sensor. Huawei says this doubles responsiveness compared to the HUAWEI WATCH 5. Holding the X-TAP button for three seconds launches Health Glance, delivering a report within 60 seconds that covers up to 14 health metrics across four bodily systems. In select markets, the HUAWEI Research app also unlocks study-based risk evaluations for coronary heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension.

Smart Features and Standalone Connectivity

AI-powered workout analysis studies a user's activity history and suggests when to push harder or take a recovery day. The feature is not available for every sport, language, or region.

With eSIM support, HUAWEI WATCH 6 can make calls, provide navigation, handle payments, and run the Safety Check feature without a paired phone nearby.

A new dual-phone connectivity feature lets the watch stay linked to two devices at once, running HarmonyOS, iOS, or Android, so important calls are never missed.

The watch can now be controlled with gestures: a double pinch, double slide, or wrist rotation lets users, for example, instantly silence an incoming call.

Sports Modes and Water Resistance

HUAWEI WATCH 6 supports an expanded range of sports modes, including golf, snow sports, diving, and cycling. The watch meets the 5ATM and IP69 water-resistance standards and can withstand dives to a depth of up to 40 metres under the EN13319 standard for diving accessories.

HUAWEI WATCH 6 was unveiled on September 2, 2026, at a Huawei event in Munich. In the UK, sales begin on September 23 at a starting price of £399.99 (~$540) through the HUAWEI Store and Amazon.
