Huawei Unveils Watch 6 Pro With Titanium Build and X-TAP Sensor
Huawei has unveiled the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro, a new flagship smartwatch that pairs premium case materials with an upgraded X-TAP health sensor and eSIM connectivity. The device succeeds the HUAWEI WATCH 5 and brings deeper health analytics, an expanded set of sport modes, and the ability to operate independently of a paired phone.
Titanium, ceramic and sapphire glass
The HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro comes in two case sizes, 43 mm and 46 mm, each built from a different material combination. The smaller model uses a ceramic case on both the front and rear, while the 46 mm version is built around a titanium alloy front with a ceramic rear. Both sizes are protected by spherical sapphire glass for scratch resistance. The 43 mm model carries a 1.38-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display at 466 x 466 pixels, while the 46 mm version steps up to a 1.5-inch panel at the same resolution. Both reach a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, aimed at keeping the screen legible in direct sunlight.
X-TAP and Health Glance: a new level of health tracking
The headline upgrade is the X-TAP sensor, which now combines a 12-channel optical heart rate sensor with a responsive pressure sensor, doubling its sensitivity compared with the HUAWEI WATCH 5. Paired with the watch's existing ECG, body temperature, and depth sensors, it forms the basis of the Health Glance feature.
Health Glance is triggered by pressing and holding the X-TAP sensor for three seconds; within 60 seconds the watch compiles a report covering up to 14 health metrics across four bodily systems, including coronary heart disease, diabetes risk, and hypertension risk studies accessed through the HUAWEI Research app.
AI features and expanded sport modes
The watch analyzes a user's training history and evaluates their physical readiness right after they wake up, indicating whether to push harder or take a recovery day.
AI-powered workout analysis tracks changes in a user's performance data and helps determine the right training load for the day based on their actual recovery state.
The sport-mode lineup has been expanded with golf, snow sports, diving, and cycling, while the Expedition mode is exclusive to the Pro model.
The Expedition mode, available only on the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro, lets users preload routes, light up dark trails, and navigate using waypoints with smart backtracking — useful for outdoor trips in areas without network coverage.
Connectivity without a phone
The HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro supports eSIM, allowing calls, navigation, and payments directly from the wrist, without carrying a phone.
eSIM cellular connectivity unlocks calls, navigation, contactless payments, and the Safety Check feature, which shares a user's location and physical status with designated contacts during trips or late-night outings.
The watch also supports simultaneous connection to two phones running HarmonyOS, iOS, or Android, and is compatible with both major mobile platforms, requiring Android 9.0 or iOS 13.0 and later along with the HUAWEI Health app.
The HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro was unveiled today, September 2, 2026, as part of Huawei's global launch of its new wearable lineup. In the UK, sales begin on September 23 at a starting price of £599.99 (~$810).
