HUAWEI Unveils nova 16s Pro With 200MP Camera Globally
HUAWEI has unveiled the nova 16s Pro, the global version of its portrait-focused smartphone. The device features a triple rear camera built around a 200-megapixel main sensor, dedicated True-to-Colour modules for accurate skin-tone reproduction, and a 7,000 mAh battery. The phone already sells in China under the name nova 16 Pro, with the global variant carrying an added "s" in its name.
Display and performance
The phone comes with a 6.84-inch OLED display featuring an adaptive LTPO 1–120 Hz refresh rate and an FHD+ resolution of 2856 × 1320 pixels. Huawei states the panel can reach a peak brightness of 6,000 nits, while a 2160 Hz PWM dimming frequency is meant to reduce eye strain in low light. Performance runs on the Kirin 9010S chipset, paired with a vapour chamber cooling system for stable performance under load.
Cameras built for portraits
The main camera relies on a 200-megapixel RYYB sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical plus AI stabilisation. It's joined by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens offering 3.7x optical and up to 100x digital zoom, along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. A pair of True-to-Colour sensors, on both the main and front cameras, analyse ambient light to render skin tones more accurately in portraits. The front camera itself is rated at 50 megapixels.
AI features for photography and daily use
AI Composition and AI Move assist with shooting and editing: the former analyses a scene and suggests optimal framing, while the latter lets users move or cut out subjects from a photo without manual editing.
The Celia voice assistant gains expanded capabilities, handling route planning, calls, reminders, and answering open-ended questions.
During calls, the phone applies two-way AI noise cancellation, filtering background noise on both the user's and the caller's end.
Build and protection
The frame is made from aerospace-grade aluminium alloy measuring 7.1 mm thick, while the display is protected by Kunlun Glass with a nano-crystal coating that Huawei says improves drop resistance. The back panel uses matte AG glass resistant to fingerprints, finished with a wave-inspired texture.
HUAWEI officially unveiled the nova 16s Pro on September 2, 2026, at its Chase the Wild event held during IFA 2026 in Munich. A comparable model has been on sale in China as the nova 16 Pro since June 2026.
