realme Unveils 16 Pro 5G Harry Potter Edition With Colour-Changing Back Panel
realme, together with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, has introduced the realme 16 Pro 5G Harry Potter Edition, a limited run of its mid-range smartphone styled after the Wizarding World. Everything that sets it apart from the regular model is on the outside: the finish, the themed software elements and the retail package, while the hardware remains untouched.
Hogwarts on the back panel
The edition is built on the Master Gold version, but the rear has been reworked from scratch. It now carries a diamond-patterned texture, a metallic Hogwarts crest with the symbols of all four houses (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff) and the school motto Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus. The frame is finished in gold, and its right side is engraved with the words Welcome to Hogwarts. realme and Warner Bros. Discovery also created a dedicated co-branded logo for the release.
The one genuinely technical part of the makeover is Quadra Light-Sensing Color-Changing Tech. The rear panel shifts its shade depending on the lighting, revealing elements tied to the four Hogwarts houses in different ways.
Themed software and retail package
The styling goes beyond the body: the limited edition ships with themed interface elements built around the Harry Potter universe.
The phone comes in packaging shaped like a school trunk, with a brown leather-style finish, brass rivets and a gold Hogwarts crest on the front.
Alongside the smartphone, realme showed the Buds T500 Pro Harry Potter Edition. The earbuds use a matching brown-and-gold scheme, carry an H marking, and their vegan leather charging case is decorated with the Hogwarts crest.
Who the limited edition is for
The display, chipset, cameras and battery are identical to those of the standard realme 16 Pro 5G, so there is no extra performance or new camera capability to look forward to. The appeal is aimed squarely at fans of the franchise and at collectors who care about the look and the box contents. Anyone choosing a phone on specifications and value is better served by the regular version.
Xu Qi (Chase Xu), Vice President and CMO of realme, said the partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products is meant to make technology more joyful and meaningful for younger users.
The approach is a familiar one for realme. The company regularly releases themed versions of its devices, and this is its second project with Warner Bros. Discovery after the realme 15 Pro Game of Thrones Limited Edition, which likewise changed only the design, the software styling and the package.
The release has been confirmed for India, although realme has not yet named a price or an exact sales start date. Company promo materials mention a themed event scheduled for September 21.
