TECNO Unveils CAMON Slim 5G With a 6.39mm Body and a 6,000mAh Battery

TECNO has introduced the CAMON Slim 5G, a smartphone that fits a 6,000mAh battery into a body measuring 6.39mm across. The model builds on last year's CAMON Slim, but swaps the 4G platform for a chip with 5G support and adds a stronger camera setup, so the slim frame no longer comes at the cost of the key specifications.

Slim body and art-inspired finishes

The design reuses the curved silhouette TECNO first applied in its flagship CAMON 50 series. At 6.39mm thick and 162.58 x 77.27mm overall, the phone stays manageable in one hand despite the 6,000mAh battery and support for 45W charging.

Six finishes are available, and most of them reference works of art. The Neo Mondrian panel relies on photochromic technology: it looks plain white in normal conditions, while ultraviolet light gradually reveals a grid of colour blocks in the spirit of Piet Mondrian. Van Gogh Blue recreates the swirls of The Starry Night through a patterned gradient coating, Matisse Black pairs a black fibreglass body with a fluorescent green accent, and Burgundy Red combines fibreglass with a matte texture. Rebel Pink and Gossamer White round out the range.

Camera built around the Sony LYTIA 700C

The main camera uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with a 1/1.56-inch format, optical stabilisation and a closed-loop ball motor for autofocus. According to TECNO, stability comes from a combination of optical stabilisation, AI-assisted electronic stabilisation and an AI Shutter algorithm meant to help with moving subjects and low light. An 8MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus sits alongside it, and the front sensor is rated at 32MP.

The Super-Zoom FlashSnap mode captures a moment on its own, without the user pressing the shutter. It works at up to 2x zoom, with shutter speeds reaching 1/11236 second.

Portrait shots are available at three focal lengths: 24mm, 35mm and 50mm. They work together with TECNO Universal Tone, which the company positions as a way to render different skin tones accurately, including in night shots. TECNO also introduced the Mag Badge accessory alongside the phone, a magnetic module with its own battery and a 1.73-inch AMOLED screen that connects over Bluetooth and can serve as a remote shutter at distances of up to 10 metres.

The AI toolset

The AI features are collected on a dedicated screen in the interface. Their availability, the company notes, differs from market to market.

AI Snap Poster targets small sellers: photograph an item and the system removes the background and places the product into a chosen setting, such as a room interior or a beach.

AI Recording Notes in the recorder app turns a recorded lecture into structured notes and links whiteboard photos to the matching points in the audio.

The phone also carries AI LightMaster 2.0 for removing shadows, flares and reflections from images, AI Pet Together for building a joint portrait of an owner and their pet out of separate photos, AI Healthy Eating for estimating the calorie content of a meal from a picture, and AI Class Schedule for moving a paper timetable into a widget.

Display and use in wet conditions

The 6.78-inch AMOLED panel offers 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, and it carries TÜV Rheinland certification for reduced blue light. The body is rated to IP69K, IP69, IP68 and IP66 and has passed MIL-STD-810 testing, which is why the manufacturer allows underwater shooting.

Wet & Oily Hand Touch Recognition 2.0 keeps the panel responsive when fingers are wet or greasy. Rain Touch handles control in heavy rain, while Waterproof Case Touch covers use through a waterproof case.

Performance and support period

Processing is handled by the eight-core MediaTek Dimensity 7300e, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of storage. RAM can be extended by another 16GB using the storage. The phone runs the HiOS 16 interface, and the company promises three major operating system upgrades and five years of security updates. TECNO also cites TÜV SÜD certification confirming sustained fluidity over 60 months.
