Vivo Shows Off X500 Pro Max Design and 200MP Camera Ahead of Launch
Vivo continues to gradually reveal details about its upcoming X500 lineup ahead of the official launch. The company has now shown the design and key camera features of its flagship X500 Pro Max, which is set to feature one of the most capable telephoto systems in a modern smartphone. The move confirms Vivo's continued partnership with Zeiss and its focus on advanced optics for its top-tier device.
Design: a large camera module and new colors
Vivo officially revealed the X500 Pro Max's design for the first time in a post by vivo Product Vice President Huang Tao. The phone features a dual-tone rear panel and a large circular camera module housing three sensors alongside Zeiss branding. The LED flash sits along the top-left edge of the back panel. The device will be available in at least silver and orange colorways.
Alongside the phone itself, Vivo also showed off accessories — a dedicated telephoto lens and a professional photography grip — that turn the X500 Pro Max into something closer to a compact camera for users who want more control while shooting.
A telephoto system built around zoom
The X500 Pro Max's standout feature is its 200MP Zeiss APO telephoto camera, built around a 1/1.4-inch sensor — the same BluePrint and Samsung HP0 sensor combination used in the X300 Ultra. Its hardware-based 4x ISZ technology enables two stages of lossless zoom without sacrificing detail.
The phone officially supports a 400mm teleconverter, a detachable accessory that extends the effective focal length even further for long-range shooting.
According to Vivo, the telephoto module gets a three-degree gimbal stabilization system with twice the range of the X300 Ultra's periscope lens, which should improve shooting quality in low light.
The camera also carries a CIPA 7.0 stabilization rating and supports 4K 120fps slow-motion video recording.
Vivo has officially confirmed that the X500 lineup — comprising the X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max — will be unveiled in China on September 21, 2026. A date for global availability has not yet been announced.
