Xiaomi Unveils 18 Pro With Hardware Privacy Display and Dual 200MP Cameras

Xiaomi has introduced the Xiaomi 18 Pro, a compact flagship with a hardware privacy mode for its display, two 200MP Leica cameras and a 7,000mAh battery. Unlike the Xiaomi 17 Pro, which was sold only in China, the new model will also reach international markets.

Display and Design

Compared with the Xiaomi 17 Pro, the main screen grows from 6.3 to 6.4 inches. It is a flat LTPO OLED panel with a 2436 x 1120 resolution, a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a claimed peak brightness of 4,000 nits. A new in-house panel packaging technology lets Xiaomi shrink the bezels to 0.99mm on all four sides.

The rear still carries a secondary 2.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, a feature carried over from the previous generation. The 8.5mm-thick body weighs 203g and is rated IP66, IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance. Both models in the series are also offered as a Transparent Edition with a translucent red back panel made of Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0.

Performance and Battery Life

The Xiaomi 18 Pro runs on the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 with fourth-generation Oryon cores clocked at up to 5GHz, while the larger Xiaomi 18 Pro Max gets the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The phone comes with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Cooling is handled by a ring-shaped cold pump system with a 4,355mm² heat dissipation area, which Xiaomi says is designed to hold stable frame rates during long gaming sessions.

Battery capacity rises to 7,000mAh, up from 6,300mAh on the Xiaomi 17 Pro. The silicon-carbon cell has a 32% silicon content, and Xiaomi claims it will retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 2,000 charge cycles. The phone supports 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 27W reverse charging.

Leica Cameras

Both the main camera and the periscope telephoto use 200MP sensors. The primary module relies on a 1/1.28-inch Light Hunter 960 sensor, while the 75mm-equivalent telephoto is built around a 1/1.56-inch sensor. According to Xiaomi, it offers 3.2x optical zoom, up to 12.8x lossless zoom and macro shots from 12cm away. A 50MP ultrawide camera with a 102° field of view completes the setup.

Image processing is based on the new Legendary Moment system: three signature camera styles are processed on the device in real time, while cloud processing recreates the optical character of classic cameras. The 50MP front camera records 4K video at 60fps.

Privacy, Rear Screen and AI

The hardware privacy mode narrows the main display's viewing angles to hide content from people nearby. It can turn on automatically for selected apps, when the front camera detects onlookers, or in crowded places.

The rear screen supports more than 100 app cards at launch, including notifications, quick controls, mini-games and AI-generated cards.

A customizable AI button on the frame can toggle the global privacy mode, voice notes, silent mode or the XiaoAI assistant.

Samsung introduced a similar privacy display technology earlier with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but Xiaomi brings it to both its compact and larger flagships at once. The phone runs Android 17 with HyperOS 4, which integrates the Super Xiao Ai 2.0 assistant powered by the Xiaomi MiMo model. It can plan and carry out multi-step tasks and give connected tablets and PCs access to phone data.

Pricing and Availability

In China, the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage costs CNY 5,999 (~$895), which is CNY 1,000 more than the Xiaomi 17 Pro's starting price. The 12GB/512GB version is priced at CNY 6,999 (~$1,044), 16GB/512GB at CNY 7,999 (~$1,193) and 16GB/1TB at CNY 8,999 (~$1,343). The Transparent Edition with 16GB/1TB costs CNY 9,999 (~$1,492). International pricing has not been announced yet.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro was unveiled on September 23, 2026, and is already available for pre-order in China. Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will launch globally later this year.
