OPPO Unveils Enco X4 Earbuds with Dynaudio Tuning and AI Translation
OPPO has introduced its new flagship true wireless earbuds, the OPPO Enco X4. They arrived alongside the Find X10 smartphone series and are the company's first earbuds marketed with lossless audio tuned by Dynaudio. Compared with the Enco X3, the new model moves its noise cancellation chip from a 12nm to a 6nm process, gains a faster audio link and adds real-time AI translation.
Sound and Dynaudio tuning
At the core of the Enco X4 is a fourth-generation coaxial dual-driver system co-developed with Dynaudio: an 11mm dynamic driver handles the low end, while a 6mm tweeter covers the highs. Each driver runs from its own DAC, which allows a cleaner split between frequency ranges. According to OPPO's lab data, low-frequency driving force is up 50% and full-range distortion is down 20% compared with the previous model.
The earbuds support audio transmission at up to 2.3 Mbps and the 48kHz/24-bit format, so lossless playback is possible with a compatible source. OPPO says transmission throughput is up to 400% higher than on the Enco X3. Sound can be tailored with five Dynaudio profiles, Golden Hearing, which scans the ear canal and tests the user's hearing characteristics, and Master Tuning codes that owners can share with each other. On-device spatial audio is also supported.
Noise cancellation and fit
The biggest hardware upgrade concerns active noise cancellation. OPPO says the move to a 6nm chip brings eight times the processing performance, twice the overall noise cancellation capability and 2.5 times stronger suppression of human voices. The company claims the earbuds remove up to 99.8% of everyday noise.
Passive isolation also plays a role. The Enco X4 ships with new foamed silicone ear tips topped with a soft foam layer: they conform more evenly to the ear canal and, according to the manufacturer, improve passive noise reduction by about 5 dB in the 3–10 kHz range. Each earbud weighs 5.6 g, and the stem has been shortened to reduce pressure on the outer ear during long listening sessions.
Users get three noise cancellation levels, a transparency mode and an adaptive mode that adjusts intensity to the surroundings. Conversation awareness allows short chats without removing the earbuds. Calls rely on four microphones, including a VPU bone conduction mic, plus an NPU that separates the voice from background noise. OPPO promises clear speech even with ambient noise of up to 110 dB and winds of up to 15 m/s.
AI features and new capabilities
Real-time AI translation covers 24 languages and works with both Android and iOS: one person hears the translation through the earbuds while the other reads the text on the smartphone screen. The feature is cloud-based and capped at 5,000 minutes per month.
Head gesture controls let users answer a call with a nod or decline it with a shake of the head. Voice commands cover music playback, volume, translation and answering calls.
Cervical spine monitoring tracks neck health in real time and reminds users to change posture. The earbuds can also detect when the wearer falls asleep.
The Enco X4 can also record stereo audio, which is useful for vlogs and live streams, and in China it supports OPPO's Xiao Bu voice assistant.
Battery life and connectivity
Using AAC with noise cancellation off, the earbuds last up to 13 hours, or up to 53 hours with the case. With ANC enabled, those figures drop to 6 and 26 hours respectively. Battery life is shorter over LHDC: up to 10 hours without noise cancellation and 5.5 hours with it. The 576mAh case and earbuds fully recharge over USB Type-C in about 65 minutes, while a 10-minute charge provides up to 4.5 hours of listening.
The Enco X4 uses Bluetooth 6.1, supports simultaneous connection to two devices, including across ecosystems, and offers a game mode with latency as low as 39 ms. On smartphones running ColorOS 16.0.6 or later, automatic audio switching between devices and audio sharing with a second pair of earbuds are available. Other settings are handled through the HeyMelody app.
In China, the OPPO Enco X4 carries a suggested retail price of 1,199 yuan (~$169), with a launch price of 1,099 yuan (~$155). Sales begin on September 24, and OPPO has not yet announced global availability.
