ASUS Launches ROG Raikiri II Pro PC Controller With Full-Color Display

ASUS has released the ROG Raikiri II Pro PC, a gamepad for desktop gaming that stands apart from earlier controllers in the Raikiri line. It carries a full-color settings panel on the front, joysticks built around TMR sensors with hot-swap support, and an 8,000 Hz polling rate over both a wired link and the 2.4 GHz channel. That is 32 times higher than the 250 Hz of the ROG Raikiri Pro, which places the new model squarely in competitive territory.

Response Time and Connectivity

Wireless duties fall to ROG SpeedNova technology, which according to ASUS lowers latency and improves power efficiency in 2.4 GHz mode. The 8,000 Hz polling rate is available both over the USB Type-C to Type-A cable and over the radio link, while Bluetooth 5 remains a third option for less demanding scenarios. The controller works with Windows 10 and Windows 11, as well as with handhelds from the ROG Xbox Ally series.

The bundled charging stand doubles as a wireless extender: it shortens the distance between the 2.4 GHz receiver and the controller, which keeps the connection steadier at the 8,000 Hz polling rate.

Full-Color Panel and Customization

A small full-color panel on the body removes the need for a computer: it switches profiles, remaps buttons, changes lighting effects, vibration strength and brightness, and launches joystick calibration and animations.

The controller stores five profiles in total. Finer adjustment happens in the Gear Link app, available through a web portal and on smartphones, where players set joystick sensitivity, trigger behavior and Turbo mode with automatic repeat while a button is held. Lighting syncs with other hardware through Aura Sync.

Joysticks, Triggers and Buttons

The TMR joystick modules swap out without soldering through the magnetic faceplate, and the box includes 50GF and 120GF variants for different playing styles.

The joystick caps are removable as well: the tall one gives more control during precise aiming, while the low one speeds up movement. ASUS notes that TMR sensors avoid drift and draw less power than Hall effect solutions.

The triggers operate in two modes: a short micro-switch throw suits shooters, while the full analog travel of the TMR sensor works better in racing games and simulators.

Micro-switches are also used in the D-pad, the ABXY buttons, the bumpers and the rear buttons. The body adds two extra claw-grip bumpers and four detachable rear buttons that can be remapped or removed, with cover plates closing the mounting points.

Battery Life and Charging

The stated maximum is 79 hours in 2.4 GHz mode at a 1,000 Hz polling rate with the panel, vibration and lighting switched off. At 8,000 Hz under the same conditions ASUS promises 63 hours, and turning the screen, vibration and RGB back on brings the figures down to 24 and 22 hours respectively. Charging happens either on the stand or inside the bundled case, which also serves for transport.

Sales in China start on August 28 at a price of 1,299 yuan (~$182).
