Xiaomi Unveils Magnetic Edition Bluetooth Speaker That Doubles as a Phone Stand

The Xiaomi Bluetooth Speaker Magnetic Edition is a new portable speaker from the brand that attaches to a smartphone with a magnet and simultaneously works as a stand for it. The device appeared on the Xiaomi Youpin platform, with the company focusing not on raw loudness but on convenience while watching videos, taking calls, or listening to music at a desk.

Magnetic mount and automatic power-on

At the core of the design is a neodymium magnet (NdFeB) that holds the speaker to the back of a phone in a way similar to MagSafe. How securely the mount holds on different phone models and cases is not yet known, as this hasn't been officially confirmed.

Inside the speaker is a Hall-effect sensor that detects the moment of magnetic attachment to a phone and automatically powers the device on without pressing a button.

Sound and wireless features

The Xiaomi Bluetooth Speaker Magnetic Edition uses a single 1.5-inch full-range driver rated at 3W, with a claimed frequency response of 200Hz to 20kHz. Those numbers point to a compact speaker meant for near-field listening at a desk or bedside rather than a loud outdoor unit. Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 6.0 with support for the AAC and SBC codecs.

Two units can be paired into a stereo set using TWS mode, while a serial BIS connection allows up to ten speakers to play back audio in sync.

Lighting and water resistance

A ring of RGB lighting runs around the bottom edge of the speaker and changes color depending on the current state — power-on, charging, Bluetooth pairing, or low battery — and can reportedly sync with the audio playing.

According to preliminary reports, the speaker is available via crowdfunding at 132 yuan (~$19), with a suggested retail price of 199 yuan (~$29). Shipping of the first orders is expected to begin around August 26, 2026, while a global release date and pricing for other markets have not yet been announced.
