Xiaomi Unveils Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G With a 10,000mAh Battery

Xiaomi has officially introduced the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G, the company's first smartphone with a 10,000mAh battery and the first Pro Max model in the Redmi Note family. The device debuted on the Japanese market, and the manufacturer builds its pitch around battery life measured in days rather than hours.

A 10,000mAh battery

The battery relies on silicon-carbon technology, which packs more capacity into the same internal volume. According to Xiaomi, a typical usage pattern stretches the phone to about three days. The company also says 100W wired charging restores a full day's worth of power in roughly 20 minutes.

Xiaomi additionally quotes longevity figures: after 1,600 charge cycles the cell should retain more than 80% of its original capacity, which corresponds to around six years of use. The handset can power other devices as well, through wired reverse charging at up to 27W.

Body protection

The frame, which Xiaomi calls the Redmi Titan Structure, carries IP66 and IP68 ratings. The phone also passed a 72-hour underwater test at a depth of two meters, verified by TÜV SÜD. The display is covered by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and SGS has certified the device against drops from up to three meters.

Display and performance

The smartphone uses a 6.83-inch screen with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness reaches 3,500 nits, which should help in direct sunlight, while the touch sampling rate stands at 3,200Hz. The panel holds TÜV Rheinland certification for low blue light and flicker-free operation.

Processing is handled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, and RAM can be pushed to 16GB through virtual memory expansion. The phone runs HyperOS 3 and is promised four major operating system upgrades along with six years of security updates.

Among the AI features in HyperOS 3, the company highlights offline translation and real-time speech transcription.

Cameras

The main sensor offers 50MP resolution with optical image stabilization, joined by an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The front camera comes in at 32MP.

A dedicated water mode allows the phone to take photos underwater.

Colors and dimensions

The Cloud Blush version uses a photochromic finish: in sunlight, the back panel shifts from white to a pinkish-orange tone.

The Black and Purple variants measure 78.27 x 163.44 x 8.65mm, while Cloud Blush is slightly slimmer at 8.57mm. All three versions weigh about 229.5g.

Pricing and terms in Japan

Through October 14, both configurations carry an early bird discount of 10,000 yen, which brings their prices down to roughly $439 and $565 respectively.

The Japanese launch comes with extra perks as well. Some retailers bundle a USB-C cable, while the phone itself ships with up to two months of YouTube Premium, three months of Spotify Premium and six months of 200GB Google One cloud storage.

Xiaomi separately offers buyers a 24-month quality guarantee, free screen and back cover replacement, and a battery replacement service within 36 months.
