POCO Unveils F9 Pro With 185Hz Display and 200MP Camera

POCO has introduced the POCO F9 Pro, a smartphone built around gaming performance and on-screen fluidity. It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series platform, adds a separate VisionBoost D8 graphics chip, and combines a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate, a 200MP main camera and a 6,330mAh battery. The company showed it alongside the higher-end F9 Ultra.

Two chips instead of one

The F9 Pro is built on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series (SM8850-1-AB), made on a 3nm process. Its octa-core CPU follows a 2+6 layout, with two prime cores running at up to 4.6GHz and six performance cores reaching 3.62GHz. There are only two memory configurations, and both pair 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM with UFS 4.1 storage.

A separate VisionBoost D8 graphics chip works alongside the main processor, handling frame interpolation, in-game image upscaling and Game HDR. It is what pushes the frame rate to 185FPS, and POCO says more than 20 titles support the mode.

To keep those frame rates stable, the phone uses the POCO 3D IceLoop cooling system with a total heat dissipation area of 26,000mm² and a 9,640mm² graphite layer. According to the company's internal measurements, this lowers SoC temperature by roughly 3°C. Gaming controls are backed by a touch sampling rate of up to 480Hz in normal use and up to 4,800Hz at the moment of a tap.

Display

The 6.59-inch M11 AMOLED panel has a resolution of 2510×1156 and uses the POCO HyperRGB subpixel structure, which the manufacturer says delivers clarity close to 2K at lower power draw. Peak brightness reaches 4,500 nits across a quarter of the screen area and 10,000 nits across 1% of it, leaving plenty of headroom for HDR content and outdoor use. The panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and carries four TÜV Rheinland certifications related to eye comfort.

Cameras

The 200MP main sensor with an ƒ/1.68 aperture and optical stabilisation is, according to POCO, the first camera of that resolution in the brand's phones. Next to it sits a 50MP floating telephoto module with a 60mm equivalent focal length that also handles macro shots from 10cm. An 8MP ultra-wide camera completes the set, while the front houses a 32MP sensor. Video is recorded in 4K at 30 or 60fps, with a log profile and slow motion up to 1,920fps available.

Battery life

The 6,330mAh battery uses silicon-carbon chemistry with 16% silicon content, which raises energy density without a noticeable increase in thickness. POCO's lab figures put 100W wired charging at around 19 minutes to reach half capacity.

The company notes that 50W wireless charging arrives in the F Pro line for the first time. The phone can also share power with other devices at up to 27W over a cable and up to 22.5W wirelessly.

Design and durability

The body follows a minimalist unibody design with a flat metal deco around the cameras and a micro-curved metal frame. At 8.79mm thick, the phone weighs 206g. It is rated IP68 and withstands immersion at depths of up to 1.5m for 30 minutes.

The Aurora Green version has a luminous back panel: after exposure to sunlight or indoor lighting it glows evenly in the dark. A laser pointer can be used to draw temporary light patterns on it.

Connectivity and software

Signal stability is handled by the in-house Xiaomi Surge T1+ tuner paired with seven gaming antennas. The manufacturer also highlights Xiaomi Offline Communication, which allows calls between compatible devices over a limited range when there is no network. The phone ships with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and NFC.

The POCO F9 Pro was unveiled on 1 September 2026. Global pricing starts at $699 for the 12/256GB version and $769 for 12/512GB, in Europe the phone costs from €899.90 (~$1,045), while early bird prices of $649 and $699 apply in selected markets.
