Sony Reveals Release Date and Price for PlayStation Pulse Elevate Wireless Speakers
Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed launch details for PlayStation Pulse Elevate, wireless desktop speakers first announced nearly a year ago and now ready to hit the market. The new accessory rounds out PlayStation's audio lineup and targets gamers who want accurate, immersive sound on both console and PC.
Drivers and Spatial Audio
Pulse Elevate is built around planar magnetic drivers, which Sony says reproduce sound with high accuracy across the entire audible spectrum, aiming to match what developers intended players to hear. The speakers also feature additional woofers for deeper bass.
The speakers support Tempest 3D AudioTech, Sony's proprietary spatial audio technology previously found mostly in PlayStation headsets and now arriving on desktop speakers.
Pre-orders for PlayStation Pulse Elevate open September 1 at PlayStation Direct and select third-party retailers, with speakers shipping from November 12 at $220.
Connectivity and Compatibility
Pulse Elevate connects using PlayStation Link, the same low-latency wireless technology used in PlayStation headsets. It works through a bundled USB-C adaptor.
The speakers can also work as regular Bluetooth speakers with multipoint pairing support, letting users connect multiple devices at once and switch between them quickly.
Pulse Elevate is compatible with PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac. Presets and other sound settings can be adjusted through the console or a computer. The speakers also include a built-in microphone with background noise suppression.
Design and Colors
The speaker housings can be tilted to a comfortable angle for desk placement. Pulse Elevate will come in two colors matching the rest of PlayStation's accessory lineup. Sony has not yet revealed the full technical specifications of the speakers, including exact battery life, saying only that they can play audio for "hours".
