Realme Unveils the 16x With a 7,000 mAh Battery and a 144Hz Screen

Realme has introduced the Realme 16x, the entry-level model of the Realme 16 series. The phone leans on battery life and screen fluidity: it packs a 7,000 mAh battery, an LCD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and MediaTek's Dimensity 6300 chip. In practice it is a version of the Realme P4R and Realme Narzo 100x with a smaller cell — 7,000 mAh instead of 8,000 mAh.

Battery and charging

The typical capacity is 7,000 mAh (6,820 mAh rated), and the phone supports 45W wired charging. It can also power other devices over a cable at 6.5W.

The Realme 16x supports all-scenario bypass charging: during gaming or video playback, power goes straight to the system instead of through the battery.

Display

The panel measures 6.81 inches and carries an HD+ 1,570×720 resolution at 254 ppi. Touch sampling reaches 180Hz (120Hz by default), typical brightness is 975 nits, rising to 1,200 nits in HBM mode. The screen is covered by Panda-1681 glass.

Platform, memory and software

Inside sits the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6300 with Mali-G57 MC2 graphics. Configurations include 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with a memory card slot on board. The device runs realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16, and Realme promises two major OS upgrades along with three years of security updates.

Cameras

There is a single rear camera — a 50MP unit with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus — while the front camera is an 8MP f/2.0 module. Video tops out at 1080p60, and that mode is limited to versions with 6GB of RAM or more.

The camera island houses a Pulse Light indicator that signals incoming notifications.

Build and durability

The Realme 16x has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 5,300 mm² vapour chamber cooling system, MIL-STD-810H certification and IP65 protection against dust and splashes. It measures 166.5×78.2×8.8 mm and weighs 217 g.

The touchscreen also responds correctly to wet hands and gloved fingers.

The Realme 16x goes on sale in India on August 13: the 4/128GB version costs INR 25,999 (~$297), the 6/128GB model INR 27,999 (~$320) and the 6/256GB version INR 30,999 (~$354).
