Pixel Watch 5 Stephen Curry Edition Leaks in Google Marketing Materials
Google is preparing a Stephen Curry edition of the Pixel Watch 5. The company's marketing materials surfaced online just days before the announcement, and according to them the special edition differs from the standard model not in its internals but in its band: the watch itself remains the 45mm variant with LTE.
It all comes down to the band
The leaked materials show a woven loop band combining stone gray and taupe shades with bright orange accents and a striped section on the tail. A small brown label carries the STEPHEN CURRY and #LockIn markings — a nod to the athlete's personal motto.
The woven band was designed with the basketball player in mind and is the only element that sets the special edition apart from the regular Pixel Watch 5.
A water-repellent coating on the band is meant to handle tough workouts, according to the marketing materials.
The Pixel Watch 5 is expected to be unveiled on August 12 at the Made by Google event, with sales starting on August 20 according to insider sources — the same date shown on the watch face in the leaked materials.
Not the first collaboration with the athlete
This is Google's second wearable tied to Curry's name. Earlier this year the company released the Fitbit Air in a Stephen Curry Edition with a similar brown-and-orange palette, matching branding and a focus on workouts. The watch continues the same design language, which suggests an ongoing series rather than a one-off collaboration.
Buying one, however, may prove difficult.
The marketing materials reportedly state that the special edition will be sold only while supplies last and will not be available in all countries.
Per unofficial data, the special edition is priced at 579.99 euros (~$669), while the standard 45mm Pixel Watch 5 with LTE is expected to cost around 549 euros (~$634). That puts the collaboration premium at roughly 31 euros (~$35) — effectively the cost of the band alone.
