Samsung Galaxy A18 4G Surfaces on Geekbench With Helio G99 and Android 17
The Samsung Galaxy A18 4G, a phone the company has yet to announce, has turned up in the Geekbench database. The listing reveals the processor, memory configuration and software version of the upcoming budget handset — and suggests the hardware platform will carry over unchanged from last year's model.
What the benchmark shows
The unit, listed under model code SM-A185G, scored 745 points in the single-core test and 2,073 points in the multi-core run. According to the entry, it runs on MediaTek's octa-core MT6789 chip — an internal designation that corresponds to the Helio G99. The tested sample carried 4GB of RAM.
The Helio G99 is the same processor found in the Galaxy A17 4G, which means the new generation of the budget line most likely brings no performance gain over its predecessor.
The test unit was running Android 17, presumably with One UI 9 on top. That is unusually early for an affordable device: entry-level Galaxy models typically receive the current software release well after the flagships.
A second 4G variant also exists — SM-A185F, whose test firmware was spotted on Samsung's European server. Based on available information, it is expected to use the Helio G99 as well.
Design stays familiar
Previously published renders indicate the Galaxy A18 4G will look close to its predecessor: an Infinity-U notched display up front and a vertically arranged triple camera block on the back. A significant design overhaul in this segment appears to be off the table for now.
Launch timing
No official announcement date has been set. According to insider sources, the 4G model will arrive first, with the 5G version following several months later. The 5G variant is said to use a Qualcomm processor while the 4G model relies on MediaTek silicon, and its production start will reportedly depend on Qualcomm component availability.
Mass production of the Galaxy A18 4G reportedly begins in August, with roughly 100,000 units this month, 2.4 million in September and 2.5 million in October. Those plans may change depending on market conditions.
