Samsung Unveils Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 With Record Battery and New AI Health Features
Samsung Electronics has introduced two new smartwatches — Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9. Both models feature the largest battery and brightest display in Galaxy Watch history, alongside a new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform. The company's main focus is health: the devices are designed to turn everyday biometric data into clear, actionable guidance without extra effort from the user.
Galaxy Watch Ultra2: Built for Sports and Extreme Conditions
Galaxy Watch Ultra2 remains the most powerful model in the lineup, aimed at users with an active lifestyle. It keeps its titanium casing and gains an 800 mAh battery — a 35% increase over the previous Ultra generation. Thanks to internal re-engineering, the case is also 12% thinner.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 display now reaches 5,000 nits of brightness, which Samsung says is the first smartwatch to hit that level, keeping the screen readable even in direct sunlight.
For trail running, a new Trail Run mode tracks elevation gain and terrain, while Nutrition Alert estimates sweat loss and advises when and how much to hydrate.
Diving is another focus area. The watch is rated IP69K, 10 ATM and EN13319, and automatically records depth, time and water temperature once submerged. A dedicated diving app developed with Mares, adding ascent/descent tracking and safe dive limits, is expected later this year.

Galaxy Watch9: Everyday Comfort
Galaxy Watch9 is built around all-day wearability. Its lightweight aluminum casing keeps the signature Galaxy Watch cushion silhouette, refined for a closer fit on the wrist. The watch comes in 40 mm and 44 mm sizes, with a 390 mAh (40 mm) or 445 mAh (44 mm) battery supporting continuous wear, and a display reaching up to 3,000 nits for readability in any lighting.
AI-Powered Health Tracking
Both models rely on the BioActive sensor to continuously collect biometric data and turn it into concrete recommendations.
The Sleep Apnea feature has received FDA clearance along with updated AI algorithms for deeper insight into breathing disruptions during sleep.
Heart Health Score condenses cardiovascular wellness into a single actionable score with personalized lifestyle recommendations.
Daily Cardio Load helps plan training by weighing workout volume against estimated recovery time.
The Vitals feature monitors a user's personal baseline during sleep and alerts them to significant deviations.
Bands and Support
Galaxy Watch Ultra2 comes with the Marine, PeakForm and Trail bands, built for sports and extreme conditions. Galaxy Watch9 offers a broader range — Sports, Misty and Fabric — focused on everyday comfort. Owners can also sign up for Samsung Care+, covering accidental damage and extended warranty, now manageable directly from a dedicated menu on One UI 9 phones.
