Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 — Three New Foldable Phones

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its next generation of foldable smartphones — Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. Rather than a single lineup, the company is now offering three distinct devices with different focuses: Fold8 Ultra targets productivity and content creation, Fold8 is built around content discovery and immersion, while Flip8 is designed for quick interactions and self-expression.

Design and Displays

The new screens are built on Flex Titanium technology — a titanium-based display structure that allows foldable bodies to become thinner without sacrificing durability. A titanium-alloy film combined with a reinforced titanium plate reduces crease visibility over time and refines hinge mechanics for a smoother, more natural unfolding motion.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the thinnest Fold Samsung has made, measuring just 4.1 mm unfolded and weighing 215 g. Fold8 Ultra's main screen also gets the lineup's highest peak brightness, at up to 3,000 nits.

Galaxy Z Fold8, in turn, is the lightest Fold in the lineup's history at 201 g.

Galaxy Z Flip8 weighs 180 g and measures 6.1 mm thick, making it the slimmest and lightest Flip to date.

Performance and Battery Life

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8 are both powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. Fold8 Ultra's battery grows to 5,000 mAh, paired with a new dual-path charging architecture supporting 45W fast charging. Fold8 carries a 4,800 mAh battery. Flip8 runs on an Exynos 2600 chip with a 4,300 mAh battery and 25W charging.

Cameras

Fold8 Ultra gets the lineup's most advanced camera system: a 200 MP main sensor now with HDR capability at full resolution, a new 50 MP ultra-wide module, and 8K video recording via the new APV codec.

Galaxy Z Fold8 features dual 50 MP cameras and a My FanCam feature that automatically tracks a chosen subject and reframes footage into a preferred aspect ratio.

Flip8 puts the focus on selfies, with a 50 MP camera powered by ProVisual Engine and a Flex Mode for hands-free shooting at various angles.

Galaxy AI, Refined

Gemini Intelligence now automates actions across more than 40 supported apps and services — from looking up tickets to booking a restaurant table — triggered by voice or a side-key press.

Now Brief delivers personalized insights based on the user's routines and now also surfaces security and privacy alerts about potential risks.

A new AI Assistant Activity dashboard in One UI 9 gives users a single view of all AI agent actions on the device, instead of having to check each app separately.

On Galaxy Z Flip8, the redesigned FlexWindow becomes a full AI-native cover screen interface, surfacing apps, insights and quick actions through Gemini Intelligence.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 are available for pre-order in select markets starting today. All models come in Graphite and Cream, with each device also getting its own unique shade and an online-exclusive color.
