Samsung and Google Unveil Intelligent Eyewear with Gemini AI
Samsung Electronics and Google have unveiled intelligent eyewear — a new companion device for smartphones built around the Gemini voice assistant. The reveal took place at Google I/O 2026, where the companies showed two premium styles created together with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.

Two brands with distinct design languages shape the eyewear's look: Gentle Monster brings a bold, disruptive aesthetic, while Warby Parker offers a refined, timeless style. Samsung says the goal was to combine its hardware engineering with Google's AI technology and each partner's signature design, so the device reads as everyday eyewear rather than a gadget.
What the Gemini-powered glasses can do
The eyewear is built for all-day wear and hands-free, voice-based control. Among the broader set of features shown by Samsung and Google, a few stand out.
Voice-driven navigation and recommendations. Users can ask Gemini for directions, get a suggestion for a nearby coffee shop along their route, or place a pickup order — all hands-free, without taking out a phone.
Real-time translation. The glasses translate spoken conversation while matching the speaker's voice, and can also translate text on menus or signs that appear in the user's line of sight.
Notification summaries and calendar. Important messages arrive as short summaries, and events can be added to the calendar with a voice command.
Hands-free photo capture. Integration with the Galaxy ecosystem lets users take photos and handle everyday tasks without pulling out their phone.
This feature set positions the eyewear less as a standalone gadget and more as an extension of the smartphone — part of what Samsung describes as a broader push to expand the Galaxy device ecosystem, with each device optimized for its own AI use case.
"This intelligent eyewear marks an important step in Samsung's vision for AI. With this new AI form factor, we are further expanding the Galaxy device ecosystem, where each device is optimized to deliver unique AI experiences that best fit each form," said Jay Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.
Google frames the project as combining its AI and Android ecosystem with Samsung's mobile hardware expertise and the design identities of both eyewear partners.
The first intelligent eyewear collections are scheduled to launch this fall in select markets, with additional details on pricing and availability to follow in the coming months.
