Xiaomi Launches REDMI Watch 6 Vitality Edition With 1.85-Inch AMOLED and 18-Day Battery
Xiaomi has expanded its affordable wearable range with the REDMI Watch 6 Vitality Edition, which has already gone on sale in China. The smartwatch pairs a square 9.9 mm body with a 1.85-inch AMOLED screen and a 470 mAh battery that, according to the company, keeps the device running for weeks between charges.
Display and build
The centrepiece is a 1.85-inch AMOLED panel with a pixel density of 322 ppi. Xiaomi quotes peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits, which should keep the screen legible outdoors, while Always-On Display support lets the watch face stay visible at all times. The panel sits under tempered glass with 2.5D curved edges, and slim bezels make the display feel larger than the case suggests.
At 9.9 mm thick, the watch is designed for round-the-clock wear. Straps use a quick-release mechanism and can be swapped without tools, and the watch face gallery includes options built around the owner's own photos.
Battery life and everyday features
The 470 mAh battery is rated for up to 18 days between charges under the test conditions used in Xiaomi's own labs.
A built-in speaker allows Bluetooth calls to be answered straight from the wrist, without reaching for the phone.
A remote camera shutter function triggers the phone camera with a flick of the wrist, which helps with group shots and tripod photography.
Sport and health tracking
The watch supports more than 140 sports modes with dedicated algorithms and workout data logging. Heart rate, blood oxygen and stress levels are measured around the clock, and sleep tracking is handled separately.
Xiaomi stresses that the device is not a medical instrument and that the collected readings are for reference only, rather than for diagnosis or treatment.
The REDMI Watch 6 Vitality Edition is on sale in China at a suggested retail price of RMB 349 (~$49) in three colour options.
