Xiaomi Unveils Pad 9 With a 3.2K 144Hz Display
Xiaomi has introduced the Xiaomi Pad 9, a new affordable tablet that succeeds last year's Pad 8. The device gets a larger 144Hz display, an updated Snapdragon platform, and a bigger battery, together improving video playback, document work, and everyday use. The company focused on balancing performance and battery life while keeping the chassis compact.
Design and colors
The Xiaomi Pad 9 weighs 485g and measures 5.75mm thick, keeping it comfortable to hold for long sessions. The soft-light display variant is slightly heavier due to its extra coating layer. The tablet is offered in several body color options.
Display
The Xiaomi Pad 9 features an 11.2-inch panel with a 3.2K resolution (3200 × 2136 pixels) and a 3:2 aspect ratio, suited for reading and document work. A 144Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and animations smoother, while 12-bit color with DCI-P3 coverage and HDR10, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision support delivers a more accurate picture when watching video. Peak brightness reaches 800 nits. The panel also carries Circadian Friendly and Flicker-Free certifications, hardware-level low blue light, and wet-touch support.
Performance and battery life
The Xiaomi Pad 9 runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the same platform used in the Xiaomi Pad 8, so a major performance jump isn't expected. The tablet comes in configurations from 8GB to 12GB of RAM with storage up to 256GB of UFS 4.1. Battery capacity grows to 9,720mAh, up from the previous generation, and 45W wired charging keeps recharge times reasonable.
Cameras
The main camera on the Xiaomi Pad 9 is a 13MP sensor limited to 1080p video, while the 8MP front camera is mainly meant for video calls and is also capped at Full HD. Both are simpler than the sensors on the higher-end Pad 9 Pro, but they cover basic tasks like document scanning or video conferencing.
Software and accessories
The tablet ships with WPS for Pad built in, letting users work with documents, spreadsheets, and presentations without installing extra software.
CapCut Pro comes preinstalled for video editing directly on the device.
The Xiaomi Pad 9 supports the Xiaomi Smart Pen stylus and a PC-style keyboard case, though both accessories are sold separately and aren't included in the box.
The Xiaomi Pad 9 launched in China on September 14, 2026. The base 8GB/128GB configuration starts at 2,999 yuan (~$450).
