Xiaomi Unveils Pad 9 Pro With 3.2K 144Hz Display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

Xiaomi has unveiled a new tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro, slotting between the base Pad 9 and the flagship Pad 9 Pro Max. The new model brings a larger display, an updated Snapdragon platform, and a bigger battery — the parameters that matter most for everyday use of a large tablet.

A bigger display with a higher refresh rate

The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro features a 12.5-inch LCD panel with a 3.2K resolution (3200×2136), a 3:2 aspect ratio, and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. The panel supports 12-bit color depth, DCI-P3 coverage, HDR10, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision, with peak brightness reaching 1,000 nits. The tablet keeps its eye-comfort certifications — Circadian Friendly, Flicker-Free, and hardware-level low blue light — and the screen still responds to touch with wet fingers.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and UFS 4.1 storage

Performance comes from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, an octa-core chip built on a 3nm process with clock speeds up to 3.8GHz and an Adreno GPU. That's a notable step up from the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro, which used the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The top Pad 9 Pro configuration offers up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage, while the base version starts at 8GB and 128GB.

An 11,000mAh battery

The tablet packs an 11,000mAh battery, roughly 20% larger than the Pad 8 Pro's. Charging is handled via 67W wired power, with 22.5W reverse charging also on board for powering other devices. The Pad 9 Pro weighs 580g and measures 5.8mm thick.

CapCut Pro comes built in out of the box, letting users edit video without installing extra apps.

The WPS for Pad suite covers basic office tasks — working with documents, spreadsheets, and presentations directly on the tablet.

The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro supports Xiaomi's magnetic stylus and a PC-style floating keyboard, turning the tablet into a compact workstation.

Cameras

The main camera has a 50MP sensor with 4K video recording, while the front camera for video calls is 32MP. That's a clear step up from the standard Pad 9, which is limited to a 13MP main sensor and an 8MP front camera, both capped at 1080p video.

The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro starts at 3,799 yuan (~$570) for the 8GB+128GB version, while the top 16GB+256GB configuration costs 4,999 yuan (~$750). The tablet has been officially launched in China.
