POCO M8x 5G Debuts as India's First Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Phone with 7,900 mAh Battery

POCO has expanded its M8 line-up with the POCO M8x 5G, the first smartphone in India to run on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor. The company built the model around endurance and smooth visuals, pairing a 7,900 mAh battery with a 120Hz display.

Performance and software support

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 platform makes its Indian debut in this handset, which is the key difference between the M8x 5G and the rest of the series.

The chip is paired with 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X memory and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Capacity can be expanded with a microSD card, and because the tray has a dedicated slot for it, buyers do not have to give up the second SIM.

The phone ships with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, and POCO promises four major Android upgrades along with six years of security updates.

Display and body

The POCO M8x 5G uses a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. The selfie camera sits in a punch-hole centred at the top of the screen.

The Leather Green version stands out thanks to a vegan leather finish on its back cover. The body carries an IP64 rating against dust and splashes, while the fingerprint scanner is built into the side button. The large battery affects the dimensions: the phone is 8.8 mm thick and weighs 232 g.

Cameras and audio

The rear setup is led by a 50MP sensor, accompanied by an auxiliary module and an LED flash. Selfies and video calls are handled by an 8MP front camera. Audio comes from stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio support, and wired headphones can still be plugged into the 3.5 mm jack.

Battery life

The 7,900 mAh battery supports 45W wired charging.

The handset can also work as a power bank, since 22.5W reverse wired charging lets it top up other devices over a cable.
