POCO M8x 5G Confirmed with Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, India's First Phone with the Chip
POCO has officially confirmed a key detail about its upcoming M8x 5G smartphone: the device will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, making it the first phone in India to feature this processor. The confirmation appeared on the POCO M8x 5G promo page on Flipkart, which also revealed several performance and cooling specifications.
Chipset and performance
According to POCO's materials, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is built on a 4nm process and, per the company, delivers up to 43% faster app launches compared to the previous generation chip. The new chipset is also said to improve interface responsiveness and gaming smoothness.
POCO claims an AnTuTu score of over 650,000 points — a figure the brand is positioning as the main argument for the M8x 5G's performance.
Cooling and memory
The phone will feature a triple cooling system made up of a 12,439mm² graphite layer, a 1,924mm² copper foil layer, and a 3.5W thermal gel. POCO says the setup is designed to keep the device running smoothly without performance loss for up to 48 months of use.
Memory is based on the LPDDR4X standard: the physical capacity is 6GB, but with virtual RAM expansion it can reach up to 12GB. Storage runs on the UFS 2.2 standard.
The POCO M8x 5G will launch in India on August 21 at 12 PM local time and will be sold through Flipkart. The expected price is below INR 20,000 (~$230), though the company has not officially confirmed pricing yet.
What earlier leaks suggested
Before the chipset was officially confirmed, a tipster claimed the phone would use a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, but that information did not hold up — POCO has directly confirmed the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 instead. The same source also suggested the M8x 5G could feature a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and run HyperOS 3 out of the box. None of these details have been officially confirmed yet.
Battery reports also differ: some sources point to a 6,000mAh cell with 33W charging, while others suggest a capacity of up to 7,500mAh with 45W charging. Exact specifications are expected to be revealed at the launch event.
