Redmi Note 17 5G Launches in India With Its Biggest-Ever Battery
Redmi has officially launched the Redmi Note 17 5G in India, equipping the phone with the biggest battery it has ever put in a Redmi smartphone. Alongside its large battery, the device pairs a high refresh rate AMOLED display with Qualcomm's entry-level 5G chipset and an extended software update commitment.
Display and build
The Redmi Note 17 5G features a 6.9-inch TrueColor AMOLED display with a 120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate, up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness, and 100 percent DCI-P3 color coverage. The panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, while HydroTouch 2.0 keeps the touchscreen responsive even with wet or oily fingers. The chassis carries an IP65 rating against dust and water.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 and cooling
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 platform, built on a 4nm process. It's paired with 8GB of RAM, expandable by another 8GB through virtual memory, while storage can be extended by up to 2TB via microSD card.
Redmi fitted the device with a 10,416mm² graphite cooling system that it says is optimized to keep performance smooth for up to 48 months.
8,000mAh battery
The Redmi Note 17 5G houses an 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which Redmi claims can last up to three days on typical usage. The phone supports 45W wired fast charging, with a compatible charger included in the box.
The device also supports 22.5W wired reverse charging, letting owners top up other gadgets directly from the phone.
Camera and software
On the back is a 50-megapixel main camera with 2x in-sensor zoom, while the front camera is rated at 8 megapixels. The phone ships with Android 16 running Redmi's HyperOS 3.
Redmi is promising four Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the Note 17 5G, extending support to roughly 2032.
Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor and a reinforced internal frame.
The phone's stereo speakers support a 200 percent volume boost mode over the standard output level.
The 6GB + 128GB variant carries an MRP of Rs 27,999 (~$300) but launches at an introductory price of Rs 24,999 (~$265), while the 8GB + 128GB model is priced at Rs 30,999 (~$325) and will retail for Rs 27,999 (~$300) during the launch offer.
Buyers paying with SBI Card, Axis Bank, or Kotak Bank credit cards or EMI transactions get an instant Rs 3,000 (~$32) discount. The launch offer also includes 5TB of JioAI Cloud storage, three months of YouTube Premium Lite, and six months of Google One (200GB).
Sales of the Redmi Note 17 5G begin at 12 PM IST on Aug. 13 via Xiaomi's official website, Amazon India, and authorized retail stores.
