Tecno Unveils Pova 8 Pro 5G With P1 Graphic Chip for 144FPS Gaming
Tecno has officially unveiled the Pova 8 Pro 5G, a new addition to its gaming-focused Pova lineup that pairs a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset with a dedicated in-house graphics chip. The company is targeting mobile gamers with a focus on sustained high frame rates, reinforced cooling, and an expanded set of AI features.
Display and design built around a secondary Alive Matrix Display
The phone features a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 2644x1208 resolution, and peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits. The panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and offers a 2,800Hz touch sampling rate. Tecno also highlights support for wet and oily finger touches, letting the screen respond reliably even in damp conditions.
The rear design, dubbed Interstellar Spaceship Design, is built around a triangular camera island.
Sitting inside that camera island is a secondary screen called the Alive Matrix Display, built with Mini LED technology and 177 individually controlled LEDs. It can sync with more than 49 usage scenarios, from incoming calls to in-game notifications.
Performance: Dimensity 7400 Ultimate paired with the P1 Graphic Chip
At the core of the Pova 8 Pro 5G is the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate, built on a 4nm process. The phone is available with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. A 5,000mm2 vapor chamber cooling system handles heat dissipation during extended sessions.
A separate Tecno P1 Graphic Chip handles frame interpolation, enabling up to 144FPS in FPS and MOBA titles and up to 90FPS in demanding RPG games, even in titles that don't natively support such frame rates.
Cameras
The main camera relies on a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with optical image stabilization, paired with an 8MP ultrawide module. A 13MP front camera handles selfies.
AI features and software
The Pova 8 Pro 5G runs HiOS 16 on top of Android 16, with Tecno promising two Android OS upgrades and three years of security patches. The software suite includes a set of Tecno AI tools alongside a digital assistant called Ella.
Ella can be triggered with a single press to summarize web pages, assist with navigation, solve problems from images, and handle other image-related tasks without opening separate apps.
Battery and charging
Power comes from a 6,500mAh battery, which is 1,500mAh smaller than the regular Tecno Pova 8, while charging speed stays the same at 45W. The phone supports all-scenario bypass charging and 10W reverse wired charging for topping up other devices.
Other highlights include an in-display fingerprint scanner, an IR blaster, NFC, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos tuning, Hi-Res Audio support, and IP66/68/69/69K dust and water resistance.
Tecno hasn't disclosed pricing for the Pova 8 Pro 5G yet. The standard model is confirmed to launch in India on August 18, 2026.
