TECNO Unveils a Limited Tonino Lamborghini Edition of the POVA 8 Pro 5G
TECNO has introduced the POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition, a limited run of its gaming-oriented smartphone built under a multi-year partnership with the Italian luxury brand. The hardware is carried over from the regular POVA 8 Pro 5G, so every difference sits in the finish of the body and the look of the software.
A black-and-red treatment in Tonino Lamborghini style
The design leans on the black-and-red palette and the hexagonal Signature Shield pattern associated with the Italian brand. Running down the middle of the back is the vertical Pulse Line, inspired by mechanical precision. The panel itself is assembled from two layers separated by a height difference and filled with internal mirror structures that refract light, so red accents surface and fade again as the phone is turned. The Tonino Lamborghini logo is rendered in a metallic finish.
The styling carries over into the software. A bespoke theme redraws dozens of icons in black and red with a glass-like effect, the boot animation is built around the Pulse Line, and the Alive Matrix Display, the small matrix panel inside the camera island, shows a signature "L" motif. The phone also comes with its own ringtone.
The 7.39 mm body weighs 189 g and is offered in a single colour. TECNO claims IP69K, IP69, IP68 and IP66 ratings along with a five-star SGS drop resistance certificate. A separate One-Tap Button on the side can be assigned to apps, in-game actions or quick shortcuts.
The phone was announced on 4 September 2026. TECNO has not disclosed pricing or a sales start date.
Two chips and a vapour chamber
Computing duties fall to the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G platform, to which TECNO has added its own P1 graphics chip. It takes over part of the rendering workload and, according to the company, allows up to 144 frames per second in popular online titles and up to 90 frames in heavier games such as Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. A 1.5K rendering resolution is claimed for more than 30 games.
To keep that load in check, engineers fitted the 5K IceShield cooling system. It is built around a 5,000 mm² vapour chamber with a nine-layer structure and direct copper contact with the processor, bringing the total heat dissipation area to more than 22,000 mm².
Display
The phone uses a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2644 by 1208 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate that switches between 60, 90, 120 and 144 Hz. Peak brightness reaches 4,500 nits, while the normal figure is 700 nits. PWM dimming runs at 2,592 Hz, which reduces flicker in dim surroundings.
The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Second-generation wet and oily finger touch recognition keeps the phone usable in the rain or with damp hands.
Cameras
The main camera is based on a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 700C sensor in a 1/1.56-inch format with optical stabilisation. The sensor uses 2x2 OCL technology, which speeds up autofocus in difficult light, while the larger light-gathering area helps in night shots, according to the manufacturer. Two-times lossless zoom and a separate full-resolution capture mode are available. The camera set is rounded out by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide module and a 13-megapixel front camera.
Battery life
Despite the slim body, there is room for a 6,500 mAh battery with support for 45 W charging. TECNO's own testing indicates the cell keeps more than 80% of its capacity after 2,000 full cycles, which the company equates to roughly six years of use, and operates between -20 and 60 °C. Bypass charging is also supported: during gaming, streaming or navigation, power is routed straight to the system instead of through the battery.
AI features and support
AI YouTube Summary recognises a copied video link and turns the clip into a structured set of notes with key points and timeline markers.
All-Scenario Noise Cancellation identifies the voice of the intended speaker and filters out everything else, including other people talking in the background. Modes can be switched to match calls, recordings or meetings.
AI LightMaster 2.0 removes stray flares, reflections and shadows from photographs.
Beyond those, the phone offers AI tools for working with text and a theme generator, while selected markets also get AI Health, which estimates blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen and respiration from a face scan. The manufacturer stresses that these readings are for reference only and that the device is not a medical instrument. The phone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and is promised two major Android upgrades and three years of security patches, along with three years of free 256 GB cloud storage.
