ASUS Unveils ROG Crosshair X870E Edition 20 With Dual AMOLED Displays

ASUS has added an anniversary flagship to its Republic of Gamers motherboard range. The ROG Crosshair X870E Edition 20 is an E-ATX board for AMD Ryzen processors on the AM5 platform, built around a reinforced power stage array, an all-copper VRM cooling solution and two swivelling AMOLED panels. The board ships together with a matching liquid cooler, the ROG Ryujin 360 Edition 20, developed specifically for it.

Power delivery and cooling

The power solution follows a 24+2+2 layout. Twenty-four stages rated at 110 A handle core voltage, two more of the same rating serve the SoC, and two 80 A stages cover auxiliary rails. That headroom matters when overclocking higher-end Ryzen chips, where transient current spikes push far beyond stock operation. Power arrives through two ProCool II connectors, with solid-polymer capacitors and MicroFine alloy chokes rated for 45 A handling filtering.

Heat from the power stages is pulled away by a full-copper heatsink that spans the width of the board. The top M.2 slot sits under a 3D vapor chamber heatsink, while the remaining slots use aluminium plates with thermal pads. According to ASUS, pairing the board with the bundled cooler lowers MOSFET temperatures by 40 °C and CPU temperatures by roughly 10 percent.

ASUS AIO Q-Connector merges pump, fan and display power for the cooler into a single connector, removing separate cables from inside the case.

Memory and storage

The four DDR5 slots use NitroPath technology with shortened gold fingers. ASUS claims up to 400 MT/s more attainable frequency and 57 percent stronger module retention. Maximum capacity is 256 GB, and supported overclocked speeds reach 9600 MT/s. DIMM Fit and AEMP simplify tuning by matching profiles to the installed modules.

Storage support goes well beyond what most AM5 boards offer. Five M.2 slots are soldered onto the board itself, two of them wired for PCIe 5.0 and three for PCIe 4.0. The ROG Hyper M.2 card adds two more, and the ROG Q-DIMM.2 module beside the memory slots adds another pair. In total the platform can host nine NVMe drives.

AI Cache Boost is a BIOS setting that optimises CPU cache and memory pathways; ASUS claims up to 29 percent faster local language model performance alongside Ryzen 9000 chips.

Displays and connectivity

The board's centrepiece is a pair of curved 6.67-inch AMOLED displays on a swivel mount that can be angled to suit the chassis orientation. The panels show system readouts and user content, and are managed through the ASUS InfoHub application.

Display Sync-Up Mode synchronises visuals across the board's panels, the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Edition 20 graphics card and the liquid cooler.

Networking covers Wi-Fi 7 and two Realtek 10G Ethernet ports. The interface set includes two 40 Gbps USB4 ports, twelve 10 Gbps USB ports and two front-panel 20 Gbps USB Type-C headers, one of which supports fast charging at up to 60 watts. Audio duties fall to the SupremeFX ALC4082 codec paired with an ESS ES9219 DAC.

The ROG Crosshair X870E Edition 20 was introduced on June 2, 2026 at Computex in Taipei as part of the ROG Edition 20 anniversary lineup.
