ASUS Unveils ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 With GeForce RTX 5090 in a 3-Liter Chassis

ASUS has shown an anniversary version of its compact gaming system, the ROG NUC 16 Edition 20. The key difference from the standard model is graphics: the GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU gives way to the higher-tier RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, all of it packed into a chassis of just three litres. The machine is part of the Republic of Gamers 20th anniversary programme.

Performance in three litres

Compute duties fall to an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor, with graphics handled by a GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU carrying 24 GB of GDDR7 memory. The GPU can run at up to 175 W, a high figure for a case this size and one that directly affects how well clocks hold up under sustained load.

Memory capacity reaches 128 GB in dual-channel mode using DDR5-6400 CSODIMM modules. Storage runs through two M.2 slots totalling up to 2 TB, one of which supports PCIe 5.0.

QuietFlow cooling

The cooling system uses three fans, one of them a 75 × 75 × 7.5 mm unit dedicated solely to the memory modules. A unified vapor chamber covers the CPU and GPU, and the SSD gets a heatsink of its own.

According to ASUS, the QuietFlow layout raises CPU thermal capacity by 21 percent and dissipates up to 300 W across the CPU and GPU combined.

Chassis and serviceability

The 282.4 mm tall, 189.5 mm wide chassis is semi-transparent with an embossed texture and gold accents. A removable stand lets the system sit vertically or lie flat.

A thumbscrew on the front panel opens access to memory and storage, so upgrades require no tools.

Networking is handled by an Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7 adapter and Bluetooth 5.4.

The ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 was introduced on June 2, 2026 at Computex in Taipei as part of the ROG Edition 20 anniversary lineup.
