Redmi Note 17 Pro Max Nears Global Debut With Snapdragon 6 Gen 5
The global version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has appeared in the Geekbench 7 database, with the listing pointing to a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor, 8GB of RAM and Android 16. The same model number cleared certification with Thailand's NBTC regulator earlier, indicating that Xiaomi is preparing to take the Note 17 series beyond China with an entirely new top tier: the Redmi Note 15 generation had no Pro Max variant at all.
What the benchmark revealed
The handset was tested under model number 2609FRA74G — the "G" suffix in Redmi's naming scheme marks a global unit. The chip is identified as SM6850: four performance cores running at up to 2.61GHz, four efficiency cores at 2.02GHz and Adreno 812 graphics. The platform was introduced in May 2026 and is built on a 4nm process.
The scores came in at 924 points in the single-core test and 2,923 points in the multi-core run. Those are typical mid-range figures and should be treated as an early indication only, since final firmware usually shifts the numbers.
How it differs from the Redmi Note 17 Pro
The key gap between the two models is not in design but in the hardware underneath. The global Redmi Note 17 Pro runs on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, while the Pro Max moves up a full platform generation.
The switch to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is the only change backed by the Geekbench listing — every other specification still rests on insider sources.
A 9,210mAh battery, up from 8,340mAh in the Redmi Note 17 Pro, would make the Pro Max the highest-capacity model in the series.
Wired charging at 100W instead of 67W partly offsets the larger cell.
Another change concerns the selfie camera: the 16MP module is said to give way to a 32MP sensor. The rear setup, according to insider sources, stays the same as on the Pro — a 50MP main camera with optical stabilisation and an 8MP ultra-wide unit. The screen is unchanged too: a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel at 1.5K resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. Storage is the outlier, with higher Pro Max configurations reportedly moving to faster UFS 4.0 instead of UFS 3.1.
It is worth noting separately that the Chinese version of the device may differ from the global one. Earlier leaks credited it with a MediaTek Dimensity 7500 platform and an even larger battery, so only the official announcement will settle the picture.
Xiaomi has announced neither a launch date nor pricing. The Geekbench appearance alongside NBTC certification suggests a global reveal is close, while leaks quote an indicative European price of EUR 600 (~$700) for the 8/256GB configuration.
