Redmi Unveils Glowing Firefly Color for K100 Pro That Glows in the Dark

Redmi officially revealed a new Glowing Firefly color for the K100 Pro smartphone. The rear panel looks like ordinary translucent green glass by day, but starts to glow once exposed to light after dark.

A panel that glows in the dark

According to the company, a special luminescent material is placed between the glass back panel and the green ink layer. It absorbs light from a flashlight or another bright source and then gradually releases it, letting users "draw" glowing patterns directly on the phone's back. The metal frame and camera island share the same green tone, giving the design a unified look.

The effect works as an interactive light-painting canvas: by day the back panel shows a clean green color, while at night it becomes a surface for temporary glowing drawings that fade over time.

Display and performance

The phone will feature a 6.59-inch flat OLED display built on the new M11 material with "Super Pixel" full-RGB subpixel technology. Redmi states a refresh rate of up to 185Hz, a 4,800Hz touch sampling rate, and peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (V Series, SM8850-1-AB), paired with a separate AI Display Chip D2, handles on-screen image processing.

The main camera uses a 200MP sensor, alongside a telephoto lens with macro capability. The battery is 8,000mAh and supports 50W wireless charging. Fingerprint recognition is handled by a 3D ultrasonic sensor, and the device carries an elevated water-resistance rating.
